Community Health Academy of the Heights, better known as CHAH by our friends and students, is a public school serving the Northern Manhattan community since 2005. This year CHAH was ranked by the New York Daily News as the 26th Best High School in New York City, as one of only five unscreened schools in the top 30, and was awarded a silver medal by U.S. News and World Report. It is our mission to meet all students where they are and work with them as they develop into scholars, athletes and citizens.
CHAH has been recognized as a first round PROSE school and is frequently toured and touted as a exemplary community school. The school works hard with students to set high expectations and uses a mastery-based grading system as students work to become college ready. We have a robust and competitive athletics program that includes soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and golf. We have a wealth of after-school programming and clubs as well as evening courses for parents and community members including Yoga, Zumba, ESL and Spanish Language classes.
Over 90% of our Middle School students elect to stay with us through High School. And we have high satisfaction rates on our School Surveys from students, parents and teachers alike.
Despite all of our successes our schools greatest pride is the manner in which our students treat each other. Our school doesn’t just speak of respecting all people, we live it on a daily basis. I invite you to come visit our gem in the Heights and experience CHAH for yourself. You will know you are in a different type of school the minute you enter Community Health Academy of the Heights.
