10th Graders Tour Weill Cornell Medical Center

This past week, CHAH's rising sophomores interested in becoming registered nurses participated in the "Spend a Day with a Nurse Program" at Weill Cornell Medical Center.  They filled out applications, obtained letters of recommendations and wrote an extensive  essays to get into the program.

Students shadowed nurses in a specific specialties. Some of our students were paired with oncology nurses, others with cardiac nurses, and some with labor and delivery nurses. 

Merima and Levana were paired with the labor and delivery unit, where they learned about the child delivery and obstetrical procedures. The delivery unit is unpredictable and a lot of waiting occurs since babies do not have an expected arrival time. 

All students were inspired by the trip.  Emily noted that "nurses are kind and lovable."

CHAH Art Student Featured at MoMA

CHAH art student Brandon Green, a 7th grader, has a piece of artwork featured at the MoMA for the Manhattan Borough Arts Festival. The opening was June 4th, 2018. We are very proud of Brandon!  Congratulations!

1st Annual CHAH Sports Banquet

This past Monday, June 11 2018, was the First Annual All Sports Banquet!

Organized by CHAH's Athletic Director, Mike King, the event was the first in what we hope to be a long tradition recognizing our school's student-athletes.  Dinner was served and parents and family members attended.  After the buffet-style dinner, each team was honored for their accomplishments throughout the 2017-18 seasons.

All 8 sports teams were recognized with a brief season summary by their respective coaches.  Every single athlete received a participation trophy in recognition of their commitment and hard work throughout the season.

In addition, "Scholar Athletes" and "Three Sports Athletes" were recognized for their achievements in academics and multiple sports.

Senior Alex Cortez and Yocasta Fanas were awarded 2017-18 "Athlete of the Year".

Congratulations to all the coaches, players, and teams and best of luck next year!

Basketball Camp at Fordham University

The CHAH Boy's Basketball Team made its annual trip to the Fordham Basketball Camp. The boys spent four evenings in the Fordham University gym on their campus in The Bronx.  The CHAH Team played two games and received tips from college coaches and players.

CHAH Spring Concert!

Last week was the annual CHAH Spring Concert and the students all performed wonderfully!  Presented by the music and dance teachers, Ms. Calev and Ms. Jacobson, the evening was over an hour of entertaining acts.

The performances were many and varied, including everything from Japanese folk songs to concert jazz, to hip hop dance performances.  Several students even choreographed their own dances!
