90% Graduation Rate for #CHAHClassof2020

The CHAH Class of 2020 has a lot to celebrate! Refusing to be derailed by the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures, this year’s graduating cohort broke the school record with close to 90% of the students graduating this spring. Our hats are indeed off to the #CHAHClassof2020! Thank you for all your hard work, grace, dignity, and perseverance in the face of adversity this spring. Truly, this is a job very well done.

CHAH Guidance Counselor Randy Bowen Publishes Op-Ed on Death of George Floyd

This week, CHAH Guidance Counselor Randy Bowen published a heart-felt Op-Ed on the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man violently murdered by a Minneapolis police officer last week. In the Op-Ed, Mr. Bowen discusses his work with CHAH students during a recent virtual town-hall over Google Meet where students, staff, and alumni were able to share their feelings, reactions, and opinions on issues surrounding race, police brutality, and education.

Fox 5 News Story on CHAH

The local television news station Fox 5 did a story on CHAH’s outreach team and support system for our families whose first language is not English. The station featured CHAH parent Mr. Avila, our founder Yvonne Stennett, and our Dean of Students and teacher Ms. Villa!

Bronx Times Newspaper on CHAH's Response to Coronavirus and Remote Learning

The local newspaper Bronx Times published a story about CHAH’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and remote learning. The article, entitled “High school helps students in The Bronx overcome language barriers” was published on Thursday, May 28.

CHAH Art Student Featured at The Met!

Congratulations to Maisha Basith, a CHAH 12th Grader who was selected to be featured in The Met for her piece "What does it mean to be Muslim?"

This is the first time a CHAH student has been selected to be showcased at The Met. Although the event would've taken place in June, they will post the work on their website. They are tentatively looking to still hang the work up at The Met in October (more details to come).
