Criticality Pursuit: Students Study Gentrification

The CHAH government seniors took their annual tour of Washington Heights to study the impact of Gentrification! Studying the effect of gentrification, with all the complexity the term implies, is a strong example of how CHAH engages students in criticality. The criticality pursuit, one of the main components of our curriculums, aims to look at how social systems, institutions, and structures affect people and how those structures can potentially be changed to be more equitable.

Students took pictures and interviews local people and business owners to ask their thoughts on gentrification in Washington Heights.
